Zippered Pouch

Ann Casper will be teaching a class on creating a zippered pouch and working with vinyl along with making and using various decorative stitches. The making of the bag is designed to help you learn to get the most out of your sewing machine and learning all the different stitches.

Other techniques you will be using and learning are: making and applying cording, gathering, how to apply an exposed edge zipper, creating and putting in a lining, working with iron on batting, pin tucking, and box corners.

Supplies needed to make the pouch:

  • 14 inch Kimberbell zipper in the lace edge
  • 1/8 yard vinyl
  • 1/4 yard fabric for the solid tone of the pouch
  • 1/4 yard fabric  print for the side panels
  • 1/8 yard fabric for the ruffled center section 
  • 1/8 yard fabric for the cording
  • 1/2 yard 1/8 inch piping or cording
  • 1/4 yard soft and stable or iron on batting


  • 1 spool sulky 12 wt. cotton blendable thread for decoration embellishment  (verigated)
  • 1 spool thread for constructing the pouch should match the zipper color.

Requirements: You will need to bring: your sewing machine, power cord, basic sewing kit, rotary cutter, mat, and All of the supplies listed above to make the bag.
